Gombe State University Holds Matriculation and Orientation Ceremony
Gombe State University (GSU) recently held its matriculation and orientation ceremony for newly admitted students for the 2024/2025 academic session.
The event took place on July 5, 2025, and marked the formal admission of fresh undergraduate, postgraduate, and Open and Distance Learning (ODL) students into the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, disclosed that the university received 12,660 applications from qualified candidates across the country. Out of this number, 5,319 undergraduate students were admitted through a rigorous selection process. Notably, 49% of the admitted students are female, reflecting the university's commitment to gender inclusion and equal access to higher education.
The orientation program included presentations on promoting discipline, religious harmony, security awareness, library usage, and healthy lifestyles. The Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Rasheed Abdulganiy, urged students to remain focused on their academic pursuits and adhere to the university's rules and regulations.
The event concluded with a call for all students to be law-abiding members of the GSU community, emphasizing the importance of discipline and responsibility. The university's administration is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for its students to thrive.
