Gombe State University Hosts Renowned Historian Prof. Toyin Falola for Lecture and Governor’s Visit

Renowned African historian, Professor Toyin Falola, visited Gombe State on 11th December 2024, where he served as the distinguished guest lecturer for the Second Professor Abdullahi Mahadi Annual Memorial Lecture, hosted by Gombe State University. The visit underscored the state’s commitment to intellectual growth and academic excellence.

Professor Falola delivered a thought-provoking lecture at the Government House, exploring key themes in Nigeria’s historical, cultural, and political evolution. His presentation captivated the audience, offering valuable insights into the country’s past and present.

The Gombe State Government, led by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, warmly received Professor Falola. Representing the governor, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Njodi, presented the renowned historian with the Gombe State’s Strategic Medium-Term Plan and Framework, which highlights the governor's vision for sustainable development. A scorecard detailing Governor Yahaya’s administration’s achievements was also shared with Professor Falola.

Accompanied by the Acting Vice Chancellor of Gombe State University, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, Professor Falola expressed his admiration for the state's governance, commending the administration and people of Gombe for their efforts in creating a thriving and well-organized state. He described Gombe as a model of effective governance and visionary leadership.
