In a significant boost to staff welfare, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has approved a salary increase of 25% for teaching staff and 35% for non-teaching staff at Osun State University (UNIOSUN). This announcement was made during the 14th convocation ceremony of the institution, held over the weekend in Osogbo.

Governor Adeleke praised the university's operational efficiency, attributing it to the absence of strikes and protests. “UNIOSUN has maintained a 'no-strike, no-aluta' tradition, ensuring its smooth operation while other institutions face disruptions,” Adeleke stated. He emphasized that this peaceful atmosphere is not a result of oppression but good leadership across all levels of governance within the university.

The governor reaffirmed his administration's commitment to education and worker welfare, saying, “We have prioritized the development of education in Osun State, and as part of that commitment, we are implementing a 25% and 35% salary increase for teaching and non-teaching staff respectively.”

UNIOSUN Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Clement Adebooye, highlighted the university's recent achievements, including securing an increase in admission quotas for Nursing from 75 to 150 and Law from 50 to 100. The institution also expanded its student intake from 4,500 to 7,405 this year.
