Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has pledged to cover the medical expenses for students injured when part of the Obafemi Awolowo University amphitheatre ceiling collapsed during a storm. State Commissioner for Education, Dipo Eluwole, conveyed the governor's sympathies and praised the university's swift emergency response.

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has committed to covering the medical expenses for students injured during a recent incident at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) amphitheatre. The incident occurred on Thursday when a severe rainstorm and whirlwind caused part of the amphitheatre ceiling to collapse, injuring several students attending a lecture.

State Commissioner for Education, Dipo Eluwole, visited the university on behalf of Governor Adeleke to express sympathy to the university's management and the parents of the affected students. Accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Osun State Ministry of Education, Eluwole toured the incident site and the health facilities where the injured students were being treated. He praised the university’s rapid response and the medical care provided.

“The swift response by the university’s management and the immediate medical attention given to the injured students is commendable,” stated Eluwole.

At the University Health and Medical Centre, where four students are receiving treatment, Eluwole expressed satisfaction with their progress and applauded their bravery. He also visited the Neurological Ward of the University Teaching Hospital, where two other students are being treated, encouraging their parents to see the incident as an unfortunate natural occurrence.

Governor Adeleke’s pledge to fund all medical expenses was warmly received by the university community. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Simeon Bamire expressed deep gratitude for the governor’s support and compassion towards the students and the university. Prof. Bamire also prayed for Governor Adeleke’s continued wisdom, knowledge, and good health to lead Osun State to greater heights.
