Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, lauded the efforts of security forces in apprehending the alleged kidnappers of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) of Abia State University, Uturu, Prof. Godwin Emezue. The governor revealed this during his monthly media chat at Government House Umuahia on Friday night.

Governor Otti disclosed that the leader of the gang was apprehended at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos while attempting to board a flight to Turkey. Additionally, the second mastermind was arrested in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Both suspects have since been returned to Abia State to face charges.

He attributed the success of the operation to the joint efforts of Operation Crush, a security team established by his administration, which has been effective in combating criminal activities in the state.
