Governor Uba Sani Unveils Undergraduate Scholarship for 36 Southern Kaduna Students

In a significant step towards supporting education in Southern Kaduna, Governor Malam Uba Sani has launched the inaugural SKAID Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship Award. This initiative aims to empower underprivileged students from the region by awarding scholarships to 36 beneficiaries selected from the 12 Local Government Areas of Southern Kaduna.

During the launch, which took place recently, students pursuing medical studies were awarded N250,000, while those in other fields received N200,000. The event underscored the governor's commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for the youth in the state.

Represented by his Deputy Chief of Staff, James Kanyip, Governor Sani urged the scholarship recipients to strive for excellence in their academic pursuits. He emphasized the importance of dedication, hard work, and perseverance in achieving their goals. “Your success is not only your personal achievement but a beacon of hope for others in your community who aspire to follow in your footsteps,” he remarked.

The governor commended the SKAID Foundation for its initiative, describing it as a remarkable milestone in the state's commitment to empowering its people and promoting sustainable development. He stated, “This scholarship program is a testament to our collective effort to uplift the lives of our youth and secure a brighter future for Southern Kaduna.”

Rear Admiral Ferguson Bobai (rtd), Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the SKAID Foundation, highlighted the foundation's mission to provide educational opportunities, skills acquisition, and support for entrepreneurship and agricultural development. He stated, “Every child deserves access to quality education, regardless of their socioeconomic background. We are here to lend our supporting hands to the recipients of this scholarship.”

Bello Bissalla, the Executive Director of the foundation, announced plans to implement ICT intervention programs aimed at enhancing the skills of students in computer science and engineering across various higher institutions in the region.

Ishaya Bamaiyi, a law student at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressing gratitude to the foundation for the scholarship. He assured that the recipients would uphold the confidence placed in them and strive to make Southern Kaduna proud in the future.
