Ahmadu Bello University's Demonstration Secondary School Graduates 2024 Set

Ahmadu Bello University's Demonstration Secondary School (DSS) held its speech and prize-giving day on October 5, 2024, at the school premises in Main Campus, Samaru, Zaria, marking the graduation of its 2024 set of students.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Abdullahi Dalhatu, advised students to heed their teachers' and parents' advice to excel exceptionally. He commended the school for maintaining its standards, particularly in teacher quality.

Prof. Sahalu Junaidu, Dean of Student Affairs and Chairman of the Occasion, congratulated the graduates on completing secondary education and urged them to be good ambassadors for the school and university.

The Guest Speaker, Prof. Abubakar Jumare, Director of the Institute of Education, highlighted the challenges facing secondary education, including bullying, exam malpractice, and mass failures. He advocated for collective action to address these issues through government intervention, parental responsibility, and teacher commitment.

Principal Prof. Abubakar Ismaila Shika announced impressive JAMB results, with 89 students scoring 200 and above, 10 scoring 300 and above, and the overall best student achieving 352. He praised students for passing WAEC and NECO exams without succumbing to exam malpractice.

The graduating Head Boy and Head Girl expressed gratitude to management and teachers, promising to be good ambassadors.
