Ahmadu Bello University Explores Academic Partnership with University of Garoua

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, is set to collaborate with the University of Garoua (UGa), Cameroon, following a working visit by Cameroonian scholar Professor Roukatou Aboubakar.  

Professor Aboubakar, Dean of Economics and Management at UGa, visited ABU to explore joint academic initiatives aimed at fostering development and mutual benefits between the two African universities.  

During a meeting with Professor Sani Abba Aliyu, Director of the Directorate of Advancement and International Education at ABU, the visiting scholar proposed areas of collaboration, including joint research, academic staff exchange, and student exchange programs for both postgraduate and undergraduate levels. She also highlighted opportunities for joint conferences, workshops, and publications.

Professor Aboubakar expressed confidence that the partnership would enhance the academic and research capacities of both institutions.  

Responding, Professor Aliyu, represented by Dr. Muhammed Lawal Tafida, Deputy Director of Advancement, assured the Cameroonian scholar of ABU's commitment to ensuring the success of the collaboration.

He disclosed that ABU would prepare a draft agreement for UGa management to review before finalizing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). He also expressed support for strengthening ABU’s alumni network in Cameroon and its connection with alumni globally.  

The meeting was attended by key officials from ABU’s Directorate of Advancement and International Education, including Alumni Relations Officer Malam Bashir Munir, Assistant Alumni Relations Officer Mr. Evans Womeodu Asobinuanwu, and Communication Officer Hafsat Ibrahim.  

The proposed collaboration reflects ABU's dedication to fostering international academic partnerships for mutual growth and development.
