Unknown gunmen have reportedly abducted 10 students from the Federal University of Lafia in an early morning attack on Thursday. The incident occurred in the Gandu community, situated approximately two kilometers from the institution.

According to an anonymous resident, the armed assailants invaded the students' community around 2 am, firing shots into the air. This prompted the students to flee for safety. The criminal operation reportedly lasted for about two hours.

The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Abubakar Ibrahim, confirmed the incident, stating that the exact number of abducted students was yet to be determined. Ibrahim mentioned that those affected were not living within the school premises but off-campus.

In response to the incident, some students initiated a peaceful protest, urging an end to the recurring kidnappings of their fellow students. Despite previous efforts by the state government and security agencies to prevent further attacks on the university, kidnappings persist.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, when contacted, expressed that details of the kidnapping were still unclear, making it challenging to authenticate the information.
