High School Students Create Prom Dresses With Duct Tape, Wins Scholarships
The contest challenges participants to create their prom outfits solely from duct tape, showcasing their artistic talents and craftsmanship
High school students are impressing social media users with their creativity by designing prom dresses made entirely from duct tape. These students are competing for the chance to win up to $15,000 in the annual “Stuck at Prom Scholarship Contest,” hosted by Duck Brand.
The contest challenges participants to create their prom outfits solely from duct tape, showcasing their artistic talents and craftsmanship. In 2023, Karla Tejeda won the "Best Dress" title with a gown inspired by 18th-century French art, featuring pastel floral details and gold trimmings. Ian Rojas won "Best Tux" with a Mayan-inspired tuxedo, blending cultural elements with promwear elegance.
Erika Avallaneda, the "Dress Runner-up," designed a gown inspired by ancient civilizations, incorporating eye motifs and spending 143 hours on her creation. Since its inception in 2001, the contest has encouraged young people to explore fashion and creativity in unique ways.
