In a determined effort to enhance the standards and reputation of Northwest University Kano, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa, embarked on a strategic visit to Abuja, where he met with top education stakeholders to discuss the development and future of the institution.

 

As part of the visit, Professor Kurawa paid a courtesy call to the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Professor Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu, at the Commission's headquarters. The two academic leaders engaged in a fruitful discussion centered on improving the quality of education at Northwest University Kano. The conversation covered key areas such as accreditation, infrastructural development, academic programs, and compliance with regulatory standards—all aimed at positioning the University as one of the best in the country.

 

Professor Kurawa also emphasized the commitment of his administration to academic excellence and institutional growth, seeking the support and guidance of the NUC in aligning the university’s vision with national standards and global best practices.

In another important engagement, the Vice Chancellor visited the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa'idu Babura. During their meeting, both parties deliberated on issues concerning the education sector and the specific needs of Northwest University Kano. The discussions revolved around enhancing access to quality education, funding opportunities, and the role of universities in national development.

 

Professor Kurawa expressed gratitude to the Minister for her continuous support for educational institutions and reiterated the university’s readiness to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of education in Nigeria.
