A total of 1,607 students graduated, with 339 earning first-class honors.

Bishop David Oyedepo, the Chancellor of Covenant University, disclosed during the university's 19th Convocation ceremony that he has not received any salary since the institution's establishment in 2001. He expressed that the personal growth and success of the students serve as his true rewards.

In a heartfelt address, Oyedepo emphasized the importance of the achievements of the 1,607 graduates, including 339 first-class honors recipients, during the ceremony held to confer First and Higher Degrees and present various prizes. Among the notable graduates were Sanmi Rilwan Oluwademilade, who topped his class with a Cumulative GPA of 4.99 in Industrial Mathematics, and Oluwasina Gbemisola Hephzibah, who earned a 4.97 GPA in International Relations.

“I have not earned any wages from Covenant University since inception. Your testimonies of success and breakthroughs in different fields have been my earnings and wages,” Oyedepo stated, reiterating his commitment to contributing meaningfully to society rather than focusing on personal gain.

He encouraged the graduates to pursue God's purpose for their lives, stating, “You are created to be a contributor. Find a place to contribute. You cannot be a contributor and be a failure. You will be part of the solution and not those who are problems.” He expressed optimism for a “brand new Nigeria,” urging the students to remain steadfast in their commitment to God's plans.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Abiodun Adebayo, expressed gratitude to God for the new cohort of graduates, highlighting their potential as agents of positive change. “The release of Eagles 2024” signifies their integration into a global network of over 24,000 Covenant Eagles, ready to contribute to society.

Former Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole, also commended the institution, noting the remarkable character building among the students. He expressed pride in his child graduating with first-class honors, stating, “The discipline is outstanding, and it is the only way to move our nation forward.”

The Olota of Ota, Oba Adeyemi Obalalenge, acknowledged the university's role in elevating Ota's status as a global destination and encouraged students to aim higher.
