Iganmode Grammar School Clinches Victory in Rotary Statewide Public Schools Debate

Iganmode Grammar School in Ota, Ogun State, emerged triumphant in the Rotary Statewide Public Schools Debate, securing victory with an impressive 480 points. The competition, themed 'With Modern Technology, Are We Better Off Than Our Forefathers,' witnessed participation from three other public schools, namely Ijebu Ode Grammar School, Methodist High School (private) in Arigbajo, and Christ The Redeemer College (private) in Sagamu.

The victorious debaters from Iganmode Grammar School, Phillips Davids, Ifekoya Okikiola, and Aderemi Rebecca, were honored with a trophy and cash prizes of N100,000, N50,000, and N30,000, respectively. District Governor of Rotary District 9110, Ifeyinwa Ejezie, presented the awards, acknowledging the intellectual growth and public speaking skills developed through such healthy competitions.
Other participating schools' debaters were also recognized with cash prizes of N10,000 each. Ejezie praised the Rotary Club of Abeokuta for its commitment to nurturing intellectual growth and encouraging thoughtful discussions. Adijat Adeleye, the President of Rotary Club of Abeokuta, emphasized the importance of the debate in reflecting on technological progress and its transformative power in society.

The State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, lauded the international standard set by Rotary in organizing the debate. He acknowledged Rotary's consistent efforts in complementing the government's initiatives for the betterment of humanity.
