IMC Commends FUNAAB on Revitalisation Fund Projects

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), on Thursday, September 4, 2025, received the Implementation Monitoring Committee (IMC) of the Federal Ministry of Education on the Revitalisation Fund for Nigerian Public Universities.

The visit formed part of a nationwide assessment of the utilisation of the 2021 Intervention Fund.

The monitoring team, led by Prof. Salihu Mustafa, former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Yola, expressed satisfaction with the projects inspected and commended the University Management for judicious use of the funds.

Prof. Mustafa, a Civil Engineer, noted that the Committee was impressed with the quality and progress of work and would reflect its findings in a comprehensive report to the Federal Government. He described the exercise as a vital step in repositioning and strengthening higher education in Nigeria.

At the Exit Meeting, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, appreciated the Monitoring Team for its objective assessment, assuring that FUNAAB remained committed to transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in managing the Revitalisation Fund. He explained that the establishment of a Budget Monitoring Committee (BMC) within the University had guaranteed prudent management of the intervention, with active participation of all stakeholders to ensure sustainability and maximum impact.

Projects inspected included the completion and furnishing of Postgraduate Students’ Hostel 2, supply and installation of furniture in Undergraduate Hostels 1 and 2, external works and provision of facilities for the extension of the Senate Chamber, as well as the 3MW Hybrid Solar Farm Project, which has sustained uninterrupted power supply on campus for six months.

The monitoring exercise formed part of the Federal Government’s oversight of the ₦30 billion Revitalisation Fund disbursed across 60 public universities to enhance infrastructure, improve teaching and research quality, and create a more conducive learning environment.
