Inspector General of Police, Dr. Olukayode Egbetokun, Honored as UI@75 Ambassador Extraordinaire

In a distinguished ceremony held in Abuja, Dr. Olukayode A. Egbetokun, NPM, fspsp, the Inspector General of Police, was honored with the title of UI@75 Ambassador Extraordinaire.

In a distinguished ceremony held in Abuja, Dr. Olukayode A. Egbetokun, NPM, fspsp, the Inspector General of Police, was honored with the title of UI@75 Ambassador Extraordinaire. The investiture, performed by Registrar Mr. Ganiyu O. Saliu, fspsp, was attended by the Force Management Team and senior Police Officers, highlighting the significance of the occasion.

Dr. Egbetokun expressed his deep respect for the University of Ibadan (UI), acknowledging its status as Nigeria's first university. He assured that he would continue to embody the values for which he was recognized and pledged to enhance the security of lives and property at the University.

Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, fspsp, Vice-Chancellor of UI, commended Dr. Egbetokun for his diligence, dedication, and leadership. He highlighted Dr. Egbetokun's unique blend of academic achievement and practical experience, noting his four postgraduate degrees that have bolstered his approach to policing.

Professor Adebowale emphasized that the UI@75 Ambassadors/Ambassadors Extraordinaire are chosen for their integrity and contributions to the university and society. The Chairman of the UI@75 Anniversary Committee, Professor Peter O. Olapegba, FNPA, fspsp, outlined the university's goals, including increasing the Endowment Fund, upgrading to a Smart University, providing sustainable energy solutions, and expanding scholarships and staff development.

He stressed the need for significant funding to achieve these goals and called on the Ambassadors to leverage their networks to support the university's vision of reduced dependence on government funding.
