The University of Abuja has added 258 newly licensed teachers to Nigeria's education workforce following the induction of its Bachelor of Education graduates into the teaching profession by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).

The ceremony marked the 10th induction of graduates from the University's Bachelor of Education programmes, underscoring its continued contribution to the development of qualified teachers in the country.

Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, commended the TRCN for its commitment to strengthening the teaching profession through effective regulation and quality assurance.

He urged the newly inducted teachers to carry out their professional responsibilities with humility, reminding them not to underestimate the impact they would have on the lives of their students and the wider society.

The Registrar of the TRCN, Dr. Ronke Soyombo, who was represented by Dr. Bimbo Okunola, administered the teachers' oath and encouraged the inductees to embrace lifelong learning while upholding the ethics and standards of the teaching profession.

Delivering the induction lecture, Professor Jonathan Ikerionwu emphasised the importance of purposeful teaching, professionalism, ethical conduct and excellence in meeting the demands of the 21st-century classroom.
