The event marks the beginning of a series of athletic contests designed to foster camaraderie and showcase talent among Corps Members.
During the opening ceremony, State Coordinator Mrs. Veronica Garba emphasized the importance of adhering to the rules of the game. She encouraged all participants to embrace the principles of Fair Play and to demonstrate their best skills throughout the tournament. Mrs. Garba highlighted that the competition's primary goal is to identify and select talented players who will represent the state at the DG’s Sports and Cultural Festival.
In his address, Mr. Umoren Kufre, Assistant Director of the Games and Sports Committee, underscored the role of sports in unifying youth and creating a platform for talent identification. He explained that institutionalizing sports among Corps Members serves not only as a means of fostering team spirit but also as a foundation for forming a nucleus of the NYSC National team and participating in other significant events.
The ceremony featured a photo session and the official ball kickoff, marking the start of what promises to be an exciting and engaging tournament.
