NYSC Director Urges 2024 Batch B Corps Members to Renew Focus and Redefine Goals

Mr. Sunday Aroni, Director of Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) at the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters, Abuja, has called on the 2024 Batch B, Stream Two Corps Members to renew their focus and redefine their goals and aspirations during their service year.

Mr. Sunday Aroni, Director of Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) at the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters, Abuja, has called on the 2024 Batch B, Stream Two Corps Members to renew their focus and redefine their goals and aspirations during their service year. His message was delivered by Mrs. Veronica Garba, the State Coordinator for NYSC Benue, at the official opening ceremony of the SAED training held at the New Multipurpose Hall, NYSC Camp, Wannune, Tarka Local Government Area.

Mr. Aroni emphasized that the SAED initiative was established to address the gap between the practical skills of young graduates and the demands of the Nigerian job market. The program aims to equip Corps Members with the necessary entrepreneurship and hands-on skills to navigate the challenges of unemployment and the global socioeconomic climate.

He highlighted that the SAED mandate aligns with one of the foundational objectives of the NYSC Act, specifically the provision that encourages self-reliance by developing skills for self-employment. Aroni urged the Corps Members to see this opportunity as a chance to tap into their untapped potential, creativity, and resourcefulness, and to fully engage with the program to achieve personal and professional fulfillment.

In her remarks, Mrs. Mary Nyamtame, Head of the SAED Camp Committee, encouraged the Corps Members to embrace the program wholeheartedly. She emphasized that participating in SAED could transform them from job seekers into job creators, thus fostering economic independence.

The opening ceremony also featured motivational talks and introductions to the Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) by Miss Anita Charles and Dr. Abege Mfam of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), respectively, as well as a performance by the Corps Members.
