ISCED Open University of Mozambique Explores Collaboration with NOUN

A delegation from the ISCED Open University of Mozambique, led by its Rector, Prof. Martins Dos Santos Vilanculous Laita, visited the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in Abuja on Thursday, September 12, 2024. The visit aimed to explore potential collaborations, particularly in Open and Distance Learning.

NOUN’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Peters, welcomed the delegation, emphasizing the importance of strategic partnerships in enhancing educational development across Africa. He noted that both institutions could benefit from joint student programs and the development of dual-degree offerings.

The delegation was introduced to various directorates within NOUN to better understand the university's operational strategies. A key highlight was a visit to NOUN's library system, where University Librarian, Prof. Angela Okpala, briefed the visitors on the university's extensive library network, which includes 44 libraries nationwide.

To further their understanding of NOUN’s educational approach, the delegation toured the university’s model study center in Dutse Alhaji, Abuja. They met with the center director, Prof. Nebath Tanglang, and explored facilities such as the electronic examination hall and an incubation center.

Both parties expressed optimism about future collaborations and a commitment to continue discussions aimed at enhancing educational offerings.
