JAMB Cracks Down on Late-Night Registrations, Warns CBT Centres

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a stern warning to 10 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres conducting late-night registrations for the ongoing 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This warning comes as JAMB emphasizes its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of prospective candidates .
According to Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB's Public Communication Advisor, while the board appreciates the centres' efforts to accommodate more candidates, late-night registrations pose a significant risk to candidates' personal safety and security .
The affected CBT centres, located across various states, have been instructed to cease late-night registration activities immediately. JAMB has stressed that this announcement serves as a final warning, and no further notices will be issued before decisive action is taken .
In addition to addressing late-night registrations, JAMB has also expressed concerns over the growing abuse of its "exceptionally brilliant window" policy. This policy allows candidates under 16 to sit for the UTME, provided they meet stringent academic criteria. JAMB has cautioned parents against overestimating their children's academic capabilities, emphasizing that this could undermine the purpose of the exceptional policy .
JAMB has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy on any infractions concerning the UTME registration process, warning that it will take appropriate measures against any centre engaged in questionable or exploitative practices .
