JAMB Partners with NCC to Issue Customized SIMs for UTME Registration
This initiative by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in partnership with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) represents a significant step towards enhancing the security and efficiency of UTME registrations.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has entered into a strategic collaboration with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), in order to address challenges such as SIM theft and missing Subscriber Identity Modules (SIMs). This partnership aims to introduce specialized phone SIM cards exclusively designed for UTME (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination) candidates.

During a meeting with the West African Civil Societies Forum (WACSOF), held at his office, JAMB Registrar Prof. Is-haq Oloyede unveiled the initiative. According to Prof. Oloyede, these customized SIMs will serve a singular purpose: facilitating secure UTME registration processes. Access to these SIMs will be restricted to parents and guardians, ensuring controlled and secure communication channels during the registration phase.
The custom SIM cards will feature a five-year validity period, aligning with the UTME examination cycle and emphasizing their temporary use for registration purposes. By implementing this innovative solution, JAMB aims to bolster security measures, simplify registration procedures, and safeguard the personal information of candidates.
