The Jigawa State Government has invested N4 billion to relocate 195 students from war-torn Sudan to India and Cyprus, allowing them to continue their education despite the ongoing civil unrest. The students, many of whom were pursuing medical sciences, have since graduated, achieving outstanding academic results.
This was revealed by the Executive Secretary of the State Scholarship Board, Saidu Magaji, during a reception held in Dutse on Tuesday for six students who had completed their studies in India and recently returned to Nigeria. He praised the resilience and determination of the students, who managed to excel academically despite the challenges posed by the conflict in Sudan.
The relocation initiative demonstrates the state government's commitment to prioritizing education and ensuring that students from Jigawa State can pursue their academic aspirations, even in difficult circumstances. The support provided by the government not only covered the cost of relocating the students but also included financial assistance to help them settle and continue their studies seamlessly in their new host countries.
