JUPEB Marks Milestone with Commissioning of Executive Lodge in Lagos
The Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) celebrated a significant milestone with the official commissioning of its newly constructed Executive Lodge in Lagos on April 29, 2024.
In a momentous occasion for the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB), April 29, 2024, marked the official commissioning of the newly constructed JUPEB Executive Lodge situated at 24, Mc. Neil Road, Off Montgomery Road, Sabo, Yaba. The commissioning of this impressive 3-storey edifice was attended by key stakeholders, including representatives from JUPEB member universities, the JUPEB Governing Board, and JUPEB staff led by the Registrar/CEO, Professor Wale Okunuga.

Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and Chairperson of the JUPEB Governing Board, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, highlighted the significance of the lodge as a symbol of purpose, commitment to growth, and collaboration among JUPEB stakeholders. She commended the Registrar/CEO, Professor Wale Okunuga, for his leadership in completing the project and emphasized the infrastructure's role in fostering enduring partnerships among member universities.
Professor Okunuga expressed gratitude to the JUPEB Governing Board for their unwavering support throughout the project's challenges and assured proper utilization of the lodge. Representatives from member universities, including the Vice-Chancellors of the University of Uyo and the Federal University of Technology, Akure, applauded the Registrar, his team, and the contractor for their efforts.
The highpoint of the ceremony was the official commissioning of the executive lodge by Professor Lucian Chukwu, representing the UNILAG Vice-Chancellor and JUPEB Governing Board Chairperson, Professor Folasade Ogunsola. He was accompanied by members of the UNILAG Management team, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics and Research), Professor Bola Oboh, and other esteemed university officials.
The journey to this milestone began with the official turning of the sod by the immediate past Vice-Chancellor of UNILAG and former Chairman of the JUPEB Governing Board, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS, on November 9, 2022. This commissioning marks a significant step forward for JUPEB, a national examination body approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria in December 2013, and formally established in April 2014 by a consortium of ten partnering universities, led by the University of Lagos.
The JUPEB Executive Lodge project reflects the organization's commitment to investing in valuable infrastructure and providing accommodation for staff from member universities during their assignments in Lagos. As JUPEB continues to facilitate academic excellence and collaboration across Nigerian universities, the commissioning of this lodge stands as a testament to its dedication to fostering growth and development in the education sector.
