Kaduna State University Hosts First-Ever Induction into Historical Society of Nigeria

Kaduna State University (KASU) made history on Thursday, 14th November 2024, with its first-ever induction of students into the Historical Society of Nigeria (SHSN). The landmark event, which brought together academic leaders, students, and dignitaries, underscored the university’s commitment to promoting historical scholarship and contributing to national development.  

Dr. Shehu Sulaiman, Head of the Department of History, described the occasion as a significant milestone in the department’s quest for academic excellence. Prof. Gaius Jatau, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, expressed pride in the induction of an unprecedented 100 students, marking a first for the North West Zone.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Yusha’u I. Ango, who represented the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi I. Musa, congratulated the inductees, urging them to uphold their roles as guardians of history. Prof. David Ibua, Vice President of the Historical Society of Nigeria, delivered an inspiring address, stressing the importance of evidence-based historical study for national progress.

The ceremony also featured the presentation of certificates to the inductees and awards to staff members for their exceptional contributions to the department. Prof. H.O. Aboh, Director of KASU Consult, praised the event organizers and expressed optimism about the impact the new inductees will have.  

This induction ceremony marks a historic moment for KASU’s Department of History, solidifying the university’s dedication to shaping the future through historical scholarship.
