Kaduna State University Hosts Retreat for Directors of Centres and Institutions

Kaduna State University (KASU) recently organized a one-day retreat for directors of its centres and institutions. The retreat, held on July 3, 2025, at the Quarter House Hotel in Kaduna, aimed to strengthen the capacity of these units for strategic impact in research and development.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, emphasized the need for the university to adopt Mode 2 learning strategies, which focus on providing real-life solutions to real-life problems through multidisciplinary approaches. He suggested that KASU can achieve this by establishing centres and institutes, collaborating with other institutions, and engaging in problem-solving research.

Other key stakeholders, including the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Yushau I. Ango, the Registrar, Barr. Samira Balarabe, and the Director of Academic Planning, Prof. Auwal Farouk Abdussalam, also delivered remarks, highlighting the importance of the centres and institutes in driving research, generating revenue, and promoting excellence in the university.

The retreat concluded with a promise from the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Strategy Innovation and Service Delivery (DVC SISD), Prof. Helen Afang Andow, that the university would provide institutional support for capacity building and funding to enhance the impact of its centres and institutes.
