Kaduna State University (KASU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Humanitarian Platform for Development (HEP4D) to enhance air pollution monitoring in Kaduna. This partnership follows HEP4D’s donation of state-of-the-art air pollution monitoring equipment to the university. The MoU signing ceremony took place on Friday, February 14, 2025, marking a groundbreaking development in environmental research and public health monitoring in Northern Nigeria.

With this collaboration, KASU becomes the only university in Northern Nigeria to receive such an initiative, reinforcing its commitment to addressing environmental challenges and improving air quality. The newly acquired equipment will enable the university to conduct daily atmospheric condition assessments, providing crucial data for policymakers and researchers.

The formal signing of the MoU was led by the Vice-Chancellor of KASU, Prof. Abdullahi I. Musa, alongside Mr. Yakob Olajide, who represented HEP4D’s founder. Other notable attendees included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Prof. Muhammad Bashir Ali, Registrar Samira Balarabe, Esq., and the Director of the Center for Climate Change and GIS, Prof. Mande K. Hosea, who also serves as the project coordinator. Additionally, the University Legal Adviser, Barr. Abdulmutallab Idris, Public Relations Officer, Adamu Nuhu Bargo, Mal. Usman Ladan from the Directorate of Advancement, and the Administrative Secretary to the Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Josephat Bakut, were present at the event.
