The Department of Nigerian Languages and Linguistics at Kaduna State University (KASU) has collaborated with the Nadama Film Production Committee and author Fatima Sanda Usara to produce a film adaptation of the drama book "Nadama."

In a significant update from Kaduna State University (KASU), the Department of Nigerian Languages and Linguistics has forged a partnership valued at N38 million for a film adaptation and production project. This collaboration involves NADAMA FILM PRODUCTION COMMITTEE and Fatima Sanda Usara, the author of the drama book "Nadama."

The partnership, officially sealed with a Memorandum of Agreement on 9th March 2024, at the Faculty of Arts, KASU, aims to bring awareness and break the silence surrounding Vesicovaginal Fistula (VVF) and Cervical Cancer in Northern Nigeria.
Professor Ibrahim Malumfashi, the Chief Consultant, represented the University, and Hajiya Fatima Sanda Usara signed on behalf of the Nadama Film Production Committee.
The film's objective is to educate women, girls, and the public about these health issues, with a focus on prevention.

Generously supported by the former Nigerian Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen (Rtd) Tukur Yusuf Buratai, the film underscores the importance of raising awareness on Cervical Cancer and other women's health issues in Northern Nigeria.
The signing event, held at the KASU board room, saw key figures from both sides in attendance, including Mallam Yunusa Muhammad Maƙarfi, Chair of the Nadama Film Production Committee, Dr. Ibrahim Shehu Liman (Head of Department of Nigerian Languages and Linguistics), Dr. Aliyu Isa Suleiman, Barrister Sulaiman Muhammad, Yusuf Shamagana (representative of the Dean, Faculty of Arts), and other university staff. The author's family also witnessed this momentous occasion.
This initiative intends to transform the compelling Hausa drama book, NADAMA, into a film, shedding light on the silenced issues of VVF and cervical cancer prevalent in Northern Nigeria. Through cinematic storytelling, the project emphasizes the critical importance of early detection and prevention, contributing to broader societal awareness.
