KECHEMA Seeks Ministry’s Support for Tertiary Institutions Social Health Insurance Programme (TISHIP) in Kebbi State

The Kebbi State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KECHEMA) has formally requested the support of the Ministry for Higher Education for the effective implementation of the Tertiary Institutions Social Health Insurance Programme (TISHIP) in Kebbi State.

KECHEMA Seeks Ministry’s Support for Tertiary Institutions Social Health Insurance Programme (TISHIP) in Kebbi State

The Kebbi State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KECHEMA) has formally requested the support of the Ministry for Higher Education for the effective implementation of the Tertiary Institutions Social Health Insurance Programme (TISHIP) in Kebbi State. This appeal was made during a visit led by Dr. Jafar Augie Muhammad, Executive Secretary of KECHEMA, and Comrade Abubakar Bala Gado Kamba, Chairman of the Governing Board.

Dr. Jafar Augie Muhammad and his delegation met with the Ministry’s Commissioner and directors to discuss the strategic collaboration needed for TISHIP. Dr. Jafar emphasized the importance of providing quality healthcare to students, both within and outside their academic environments, without placing financial burdens on their families.

 Comrade Abubakar Bala Gado Kamba underscored the critical role of the Ministry for Higher Education in coordinating efforts among stakeholders, including tertiary institutions, students' unions, parents, and school health facilities. The Ministry’s involvement is seen as essential for the program’s success.

Alhaji Isah Abubakar Tunga, Honourable Commissioner for Higher Education, expressed gratitude for the delegation’s visit and assured them of the Ministry’s full support for TISHIP and KECHEMA. He highlighted that the current administration, led by His Excellency Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu, is committed to people-centered policies aimed at enhancing the welfare of all citizens, including students.

 The Commissioner pledged to facilitate a forum for KECHEMA to collaborate with Heads of Tertiary Institutions to develop effective modalities for TISHIP. This platform will be instrumental in ensuring the program’s successful rollout and implementation across Kebbi State.
