Kwara State Polytechnic Announces Guidelines and Timetable for 2023/2024 Student Union Government Elections
Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, has released guidelines and a timetable for the 2023/2024 Student Union Government (SUG) elections.
The Directorate of Students' Services at Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, has released guidelines and a timetable for the forthcoming 2023/2024 Student Union Government (SUG) elections. The elections, slated to occur between Friday, June 9, 2023, and Wednesday, June 26, 2023, will be conducted through an Electronic Voting (Smart Voting System), allowing the use of Android phones and internet-enabled gadgets.
According to the guidelines, only students duly registered for the 2022/2023 academic session are eligible to participate as voters or candidates. Aspirants for the positions of President and Speaker must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.00 in the last sessional examination, coupled with intermediate or advanced proficiency in English language. Other positions require a minimum CGPA of 2.75.
To contest for any elective post, aspirants must undergo screening by a committee appointed by the Directorate of Students' Services in collaboration with the Polytechnic Management. Additionally, aspirants and voters for the National Association of Kwara State Students (NAKKS) Election must be of Kwara State origin.
The zoning for the 2023/2024 SUG elections includes various positions such as President, Vice President, Clerk, General Secretary, Treasurer, and others, allocated to different Institutes and Departments.
As per the guidelines, one elective post is reserved for National Diploma (ND) students. All contestants must download the Election Screening Form A" 2023/24 for clearance, and printed copies of the submitted online Nomination Forms for Elective Offices must be submitted to the Directorate of Students' Services as per the approved date.
Director of Students' Services, Ajadi B.S, emphasized the importance of character and learning in aspirants, warning of sanctions for false declarations.
Attached to the guidelines are the Proposed Timetable for the Election, Nomination Form/Guarantor Form, and Security Form.
