Kwara State Polytechnic Announces Guidelines for 2023/2024 Student Union Government Elections

Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, has released the official guidelines for the 2023/2024 Student Union Government (SUG) elections, scheduled for Saturday, June 8, 2024. The elections will utilize an Electronic Voting (Smart Voting System), allowing students to vote using Android phones and other internet-enabled devices.

Key Guidelines for Candidates

  1. Eligibility:

    • Only duly registered students for the 2023/2024 academic session can vote and be voted for.
    • Aspirants for the positions of President and Speaker must have a minimum CGPA of 3.00 and demonstrate a good command of English. Other positions require a minimum CGPA of 2.75.
    • All candidates must pass a screening conducted by the Directorate of Students’ Services.

  2. Special Requirements:

    • Candidates and voters for the National Association of Kwara State Students (NAKSS) must be of Kwara State origin.
    • The 2023/2024 elections have designated zoning for various institutes and roles, including President, Speaker, Treasurer, General Secretary, and others.

  3. Application Process:

    • Printed copies of the nomination forms, completed online, must be submitted to the Office of the Director of Students’ Services by the approved date. These forms must be signed by the respective Heads of Departments and Institute Directors.
    • Candidates must exhibit good character and learning capabilities.
    • False declarations will result in disqualification, and late submissions of forms will not be accepted.

  • One elective position is reserved for ND students.
