KWASU Engineering Team Converts Petrol Car to CNG, Promoting Eco-Friendly Transport
KWASU's Centre for Sustainable Energy engineers successfully convert a petrol-powered vehicle to run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), promoting sustainability.
Engineers from the Centre for Sustainable Energy at Kwara State University (KWASU) have successfully converted a petrol-powered vehicle to run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), a cleaner and more sustainable energy source.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali OON, accompanied by other Council members, inspected the vehicle and praised the initiative, applauding the university’s commitment to seeking eco-friendly alternatives to petrol.
The Vice-Chancellor of KWASU, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, highlighted that the university is consistently focused on practical solutions to societal challenges. Following previous innovations such as converting scrap petrol engine vehicles to electric-powered ones, this latest conversion to CNG is another significant step toward promoting a greener, more sustainable environment.
The team of engineers from the Centre for Sustainable Energy explained that CNG offers numerous benefits, including lower fuel costs, improved fuel efficiency, reduced maintenance expenses, and extended engine life due to its cleaner combustion process.
