Coordinated under the leadership of Hub Manager, Professor Tunji Azeez, the session attracted students from the Departments of Theatre and Film, Mass Communication, English, and other related disciplines. Dr. Emelonye delivered practical training on directing techniques, cinematic storytelling, and the realities of contemporary filmmaking, providing participants with hands-on insights into the industry.
A major highlight of the masterclass was the discussion on Dr. Emelonye’s upcoming film, Safari, which was shot across Kenya and Nigeria and is scheduled for nationwide cinema release on Friday, 21st November 2025. Participants were treated to behind-the-scenes insights and a preview of the captivating trailer, demonstrating the director’s signature approach to storytelling.
In addition, the event marked the official launch of the LASU Film Club, aimed at creating a vibrant campus community for students and staff passionate about filmmaking. The club will host regular film screenings, industry engagements, creative workshops, and other activities designed to nurture talent and promote innovation in the cinematic arts.

The event reinforces the Hub’s commitment to equipping students and staff with industry-relevant skills while fostering creativity, innovation, and professional development in Nigeria’s growing film sector.
