Landmark University Will Never Bear My Name- Bishop Oyedepo

Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of Landmark University, celebrated his birthday in a meaningful way. During the event, he made a strong declaration regarding the future of Landmark University, stating, “Even when I leave the world, nobody is ever permitted to rename Covenant or Landmark University after me. They are named by God.” This statement underscores his commitment to ensuring that the university retains its divine identity and purpose, distinct from his legacy.

In his address, Oyedepo reflected on his life's mission, explaining that the land on which Landmark University is built, including its Medical Centre, was initially purchased to establish a hospital during a time when he lacked even a bank account. “I couldn’t watch and continue seeing pregnant women dying,” he recounted, illustrating his long-standing dedication to service.

He elaborated on the significance of the bus donation, revealing that he had planned to give it away even before it was presented to him. “I knew I would give a bus this morning because someone called me and said, even if you don’t want a birthday gift, I’m bringing you a Coaster bus for outreach,” he shared.

Bishop Oyedepo humbly declined any personal recognition, insisting, “Don’t ever call me an icon. I’m representing Jesus the icon. I’m not an achiever. I’m only engaging in grace and I’m not engaging the grace of God in vain.”

This significant gesture reflects Oyedepo's unwavering dedication to service, the university’s mission, and his lifelong commitment to impacting lives through faith and compassion, all while ensuring that Landmark University remains free from any personal naming or association.
