FUD Vice-Chancellor Inaugurates Committee for Establishment of Faculty of Law
The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Dutse (FUD), Prof. Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed, has inaugurated an eight-member committee to oversee the establishment of the university’s Faculty of Law. Chaired by Prof. Rabiu Sani Shatsari of Bayero University Kano (BUK), the committee is tasked with developing a curriculum, drafting a strategic plan, and identifying key requirements for the faculty’s takeoff.

The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Dutse (FUD), Prof. Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed, has inaugurated an eight-member committee tasked with establishing the university’s Faculty of Law. The committee is chaired by Prof. Rabiu Sani Shatsari of Bayero University Kano (BUK).
Speaking during the inauguration, Prof. Mohammed emphasized that the selection of committee members was based on their outstanding contributions to the legal profession and education in Nigeria. He reiterated FUD’s commitment to establishing a strong Faculty of Law and expressed confidence in the committee’s ability to provide a comprehensive roadmap for its creation.
In his response, Prof. Shatsari thanked the university management for the trust placed in them, assuring that the committee would diligently execute its mandate within the expected timeframe.
The committee’s terms of reference include designing a curriculum in line with the National Universities Commission’s Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS), drafting a strategic plan for the faculty’s development, and identifying key requirements for its successful takeoff.
Other members of the committee are Prof. Nuhu Idris (BUK), Prof. Nasir Abdulkadir Ahmed (BUK), Dr. A.M. Bello, Abubakar Mijinyawa (Registrar, FUD), Hassan Balarebe (Bursar, FUD), Dr. Ahmed Mohammed (Librarian, FUD), Dr. Sanusi Ibrahim Chinade (DAP, FUD), Barr. Mahmoud Bello (Legal Officer, FUD), and Abdulsalam Ibrahim from the Establishment Division.
The initiative marks a significant step toward expanding FUD’s academic offerings and strengthening legal education in Nigeria.
