Lagos State University (LASU) invites applications for its Pre-Degree Studies (PDS) Programme for the 2024/2025 academic session. The programme, starting in October 2024 and running for one academic year, aims to help candidates improve their O'Level results and prepare for the UTME.

LASU Announces Admission for 2024/2025 Pre-Degree Studies

Lagos State University (LASU) is now accepting applications for its Pre-Degree Studies (PDS) Programme for the 2024/2025 academic session. The intensive one-year programme, set to commence in October 2024, aims to help candidates with O'Level deficiencies re-sit their exams and prepare for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Admission Requirements

Prospective candidates must have credits in at least three subjects from the following: Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Government, Economics, Literature in English, Christian Religious Studies (CRS), Islamic Religious Studies (IRS), and Accounting. These credits must be obtained in no more than two sittings. Eligible candidates will be invited for a qualifying examination.

Transition to 100 Level

To transition to the 100 Level, candidates must:

  1. Sit for the UTME and achieve the minimum JAMB cut-off mark required by LASU.
  2. Pass the university screening test.
  3. Address any deficiencies in their O'Level results by passing the relevant WAEC or NECO subjects.

Successful candidates will be admitted into related faculties, including Engineering, Science, Management Sciences, Education, Social Sciences, Law, Agriculture, Transport, Mass Communication, Nursing, Dentistry, and the College of Medicine.

Outstanding Performance

Despite general low performance in the 2024 UTME, the LASU PDS recorded significant success, with 79.7% of candidates scoring 200 and above. This success is attributed to rigorous teaching and CBT practice.
