Lagos State University (LASU) law students have once again demonstrated their legal prowess by clinching the top prize in the national Moot court competition. The event, organized by Olabisi Onabanjo University in honor of distinguished Immigration lawyer Dr. OluSegun Asekun based in New York, witnessed LASU's team emerging victorious amidst stiff competition.

The LASU team, led by David Akinwunmi and comprising Temidire Adeyemi and Johnson Ogundein, showcased exceptional skill and determination throughout the competition. This triumph marks LASU Law’s fifth consecutive win in national competitions, underscoring their consistent dominance in legal debates and moot court scenarios.

Expressing gratitude to their faculty and lecturers for guidance and support, David Akinwunmi highlighted the rigorous standards of the competition. He emphasized how the event not only tested participants' legal knowledge but also challenged them to elevate their critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork.

Earlier in May, LASU also participated in another prestigious competition organized by Redeemers University in Osun State. Titled ‘The Legal and Ethical Implication of Emerging Technology,’ this competition included stages such as essay writing, asynchronous debate, memorial writing, and mooting. Kodjovi Daniel represented LASU in the essay writing stage, while Aina Ayomide, Abdulquadri Ajeniya, Bolajoko Animasaun, and Akinrinde Fredrick showcased LASU’s talent across different rounds.

The national Moot court competition drew attention from esteemed figures, including members of the National Assembly and prominent lawyers from Texas and New York, highlighting its significance in the legal community. LASU’s continued success underscores its commitment to excellence in legal education and prepares its students for future challenges in the legal profession.
