Lagos State University (LASU) has partnered with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to enhance its Innovation Hub, fostering creativity and entrepreneurship.

Lagos State University (LASU) has taken a significant step toward enhancing its Innovation Hub by collaborating with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). On Wednesday, 12th March 2025, the university hosted a dynamic meeting at Awori House, LASU main campus, Ojo, to engage staff and students in shaping the future of the hub. The event served as a platform for brainstorming ideas aimed at transforming the hub into a Centre of Excellence for innovation and entrepreneurship.
The co-creation session featured key stakeholders, including Steering Committee Members of the university. Present at the event were Prof. Adejuwon Adeneye, Director of the Directorate of Research Management and Innovation (DRMI); Prof. Toyin Enikuomehin, Director of the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (DICT); Prof. Tunji Azeez, Acting Dean of the School of Tourism, Film, Performing Arts, and Cultural Studies; Dr. Habeeb Sanni, Acting Director of the Directorate of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship (DSDE); and Mr. Emmanuel Udoma from Smart Media, alongside other staff and students.
The UNDP delegation moderated the discussions, with key representatives such as Ms. Zainab Rahima Aminu, Talent Management Specialist; Ms. Genevieve Chukwuebi, Creative Sector Lead; and Mrs. Jamila Aliyu Moh'd, Head of Experimentation. The interactive sessions facilitated constructive dialogue, allowing participants to explore industry challenges and propose innovative solutions.
It will be recalled that on Friday, 13th December 2024, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, officially inaugurated the Centre of Excellence and Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Awori House, LASU. The facility was subsequently handed over to UNDP to operate as an innovation hub, fostering creativity and development within the LASU community.
The Innovation Hub, built in honour of Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire’s late father, aims to provide a premier space for learning, creativity, and technological advancement. As part of LASU’s strategic objectives, this initiative aligns with the university’s vision of generating internal revenue (IGR) while equipping students and staff with entrepreneurial skills.
