LASU to Host Scientific Conference for 11th FASU Games Focused on University Sports and Global Excellence

The Lagos State University (LASU) is set to host the Scientific Conference for the 11th edition of the Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU) Games. The conference, themed “Fostering Unity, Healthy Competition and Global Excellence Through University Sports,” will take place from Monday, September 23 to Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the Aderemi Makanjuola Hall, LASU, Badagry Expressway, Ojo, Lagos.

The event will feature a keynote presentation by Mrs. Kafilat Araoye, Managing Director/CEO of LOTUS Bank Ltd. The conference will be conducted in a hybrid format, allowing for both in-person and online participation. Details for online participation will be provided to registered participants.

Prominent speakers include Professor Vincent O. Onywera, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Outreach at KCA University, Nairobi, Kenya, and Dr. Mary Jane De Souza, Distinguished Professor at The Pennsylvania State University, USA. The conference will cover various sub-themes such as Sustainable Development and Social Impact, Athletes’ Welfare and Performance Enhancement, Global Health and Well-being, Partnerships and Sustainability, Unity, Rivalry and Leadership, and Inclusivity and Cross-Cultural Understanding.

The conference is hosted by Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), and Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, Vice-Chancellor of LASU.
