LASU VC Honored With UI Alumni Awards

The Vice-Chancellor, Lagos State University (LASU), Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, and her husband, Hon.Tunji Bello, are set to be honoured with prestigious awards by the University of Ibadan Alumni Association (UIAA) Worldwide at the upcoming University of Ibadan Alumni Honours and Awards Ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, 3rd December 2025, at Abuja.

Professor Olatunji-Bello was nominated for the highly coveted *“Worthy Ambassador*” Award in recognition of her outstanding leadership, exceptional service, and significant contributions to academic excellence and institutional growth during her remarkable tenure as Vice Chancellor of LASU since 2021. This award celebrates alumni who exemplify purposeful leadership and have made impactful contributions to both national development and higher education in Nigeria. 

Her husband, Hon. Tunji Bello, will be honoured with the “Meritorious Service” Award, acknowledging his exemplary leadership and dedication to public service. His impactful roles, including Commissioner in Lagos State at various times, Secretary to the Lagos State Government, and current Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), highlight his unwavering commitment to public accountability, institutional strengthening, and governance transparency.

The awards ceremony will be chaired by His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, CFR, mni, the Sultan of Sokoto, with special honourees such as His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima, Vice President of Nigeria, and His Excellency, Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, among other distinguished leaders.
