MAAUN students launch Web App to Transform Education, Tech Networking

Students from the School of Computing at Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) on Thursday launched a groundbreaking web application code named ‘ilearn’.

The App is designed to provide students access to educational resources as well as opportunities to connect with fellow students in the tech community in Northern Nigeria.

 

The ‘ilearn’ platform, founded by Idris Musbahu and his dedicated team members comprising of Fadilah Ishaq, Salma Abdulkadir, Kamisu Abdullahi Yahaya, Aminu Ibrahim Atiku, Aliyu Garba Abdullahi, and Jibril Nasir Argungu, stands as a beacon of educational advancement.

Musbahu, who articulated the platform’s core mission to provide MAAUN students with comprehensive educational materials such as lecture notes, past questions, revealed plans to extend its reach to other departments and universities in the near future.

 

After the unveiling, the ilearn team expressed deepest gratitude to the university management and their parents for their unwavering support which were instrumental in bringing the project to fruition.

 

The program entitled ‘Startup Connect’ is poised to bring together like-minded tech enthusiasts to network, share ideas, and foster collaborations that drive forward the tech community in Northern Nigeria.

 

The landmark event was inaugurated by Prof. Abubakar Sadiq Haruna, Director, Institute of Africa Higher Education Research and Innovation (IAHERI), who commended the students’ creativity and emphasized the university’s commitment to supporting innovative projects.

The meetup, put forward by MAAUN Innovation Hub in partnership with Northern Founders Community, Startup Kano, Blue Sapphire Hub, and ZainPay, provided an avenue for networking opportunities.

 

In a compelling presentation, Miss Summaya Tofa, who spoke at length on the vital role of public relations in business promotion and image making, offered insights on best approaches to overcoming challenges crippling early startups.

 

A representative from ZainPay discussed the company’s efforts in simplifying payment transactions, making financial operations more accessible from the comfort of users’ homes.

 

Earlier, the President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, reiterated the university readiness to explore boundaries of creativity and support initiatives that foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among students.

 

In her closing remarks, Aida Isah El-Hassan lauded the university management, the ilearn team, presenters as well as the attendees for their respective contributions to the success of the program.
