McPherson University Library Empowers Staff with Cutting-Edge Automation Workshop

Driven by its commitment to innovation and improved service delivery, the University Library of McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, has organised a capacity-building training workshop titled “Preparing Libraries for Automation: Practical Strategies Using Mobile Apps, Collaborative Tools and Contactless Technologies.”

In his remarks, the University Librarian, Dr. Jerome Idiegbeyan-Ose, charged all library staff to pay close attention throughout the training and to ask questions where necessary in order to ensure full implementation of the knowledge gained. He further urged participants to maximise the opportunity to learn from the resource person, popularly known as the Digital Librarian.

The facilitator, Sylvester Ebhonu, who is the National Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Library Association (NLA), brought his wealth of experience to bear during the session, having trained librarians both locally and internationally.

In his presentation, he examined practical approaches to preparing libraries for automation, with emphasis on the use of mobile applications, collaborative tools and contactless technologies to enhance efficiency and service delivery in modern library systems.

The training, which featured practical sessions, interactive question-and-answer segments, and the presentation of certificates, is aimed at strengthening the capacity of the University Library, making it competitive with global standards and increasing its visibility among international universities and researchers.
