The management of McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, paid a heartfelt condolence visit to the family of the late Dr. Christopher Olusola Kolade (1932–2025), who served as the University’s Chancellor from 2016 to 2022.
The visit was both solemn and symbolic — a tribute to Dr. Kolade’s enduring legacy of integrity, leadership, and service to the University community.

The delegation, led by Professor Kenneth Nwoko, representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francis Igbasan, included Mr. Olufemi Adebowale (Ag. Registrar), Mr. Tokunbo Olakunle (Deputy Registrar, Information and Public Relations), Dr. George Ajayi (Deputy Registrar, Human Resources), and Mr. Ayodeji Adesina (Principal Assistant Registrar, Human Resources).
They were joined by Dr. Mayowa Afe, the pioneer Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, whose presence underscored the enduring connection between the institution’s founding vision and Dr. Kolade’s years of chancellorship.
The team was warmly received by Mrs. Beatrice Kolade, widow of the late Chancellor, alongside other family members and relatives.
In his tribute, Dr. Afe described Dr. Kolade as a moral beacon whose name “is synonymous with integrity,” emphasizing how his influence cut across academic, corporate, and spiritual spheres. He expressed gratitude to Mrs. Kolade and the family for allowing the revered statesman to serve the University with such devotion and wisdom.
Similarly, Professor Nwoko reflected on the late Chancellor’s invaluable contributions to McPherson University, noting that “Dr. Kolade’s association with the institution opened doors that might have otherwise remained closed.”
Responding, Mrs. Kolade expressed profound appreciation for the University’s thoughtful gesture, recalling fond memories of her visits to the McPherson campus alongside her late husband.
The visit reaffirmed McPherson University’s respect and gratitude for Dr. Kolade’s lasting influence — a legacy defined by faith, discipline, and excellence that continues to inspire the University’s mission and community.
