MDCAN-AKTH Commends Bayero University Management on CONMESS Implementation and Infrastructure Development

The Medical and Dental Consultants' Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) Branch, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor of Bayero University Kano (BUK), Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, on January 7, 2025.
The delegation, led by the Chairman of the Association, Dr. Musa Bello Kofar Na'isa, expressed gratitude to the university management for migrating its members to the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS). They also commended the management for addressing the perennial problem of power supply in the College of Health Sciences and employing part-time lecturers to boost manpower.
Dr. Kofar Na'isa highlighted the importance of the association, which comprises medical and dental educators and specialists employed by the university. He noted that the association's members are engaged in undergraduate and postgraduate medical and dental education, as well as impactful research across national and international boundaries.
In his response, Professor Abbas thanked the delegation for the visit and appreciated their services to the university clinics. He emphasized that the implementation of CONMESS, improvement of power supply, and employment of part-time lecturers were necessary to enhance the standards and wellbeing of staff and medical students.
The immediate past Chairman of MDCAN, Dr. Musa Usman Umar, also expressed appreciation to the university management for improving their wellbeing and assured that they would continue to deliver their best services.
The visit aimed to strengthen the cordial relationship between the university and AKTH, promoting collaboration and partnership in medical and dental education and research.
