MDCN, Ekiti Governor Encourages UI Graduating Doctors to Stay and Serve Nigeria

Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, along with other distinguished guests, addressed the graduating class of 2024 at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan (CoMUI), urging young doctors to remain in Nigeria after graduation. He urged them to consider their role in repaying the nation’s investment in their medical education by serving their fellow citizens.

Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, along with other distinguished guests, addressed the graduating class of 2024 at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan (CoMUI), urging young doctors to remain in Nigeria after graduation.

The event, which marked the induction into the medical profession for the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) graduates, saw 147 newly inducted doctors, known as the “Lotus 2024” cohort.

Among the attendees were Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), Dr. Fatima Kyari, Vice Chancellor Prof Kayode Adebowale, and Provost Prof Olayinka Omigbodun.

Governor Oyebanji emphasized that staying in the country would allow these skilled professionals to contribute significantly to the development of Nigeria’s health sector. He urged them to consider their role in repaying the nation’s investment in their medical education by serving their fellow citizens.

Dr. Kyari, the first female registrar of MDCN, echoed this sentiment. Represented by Deputy Registrar Dr. Okwuokenye Henry, she stressed the importance of giving back to the government that subsidized their education.
