Mercy Chinwo, Husband Offer Full Scholarships to UNICAL Students
Popular gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo, and her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, have made a significant philanthropic gesture by offering full scholarships to undergraduates at the University of Calabar. The scholarships aim to alleviate financial burdens for academically bright yet economically disadvantaged students, encouraging academic excellence.

Popular gospel singer,Mercy Chinwo,and her husband,Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa,have made a significant philanthropic gesture by offering full scholarships to undergraduates at the University of Calabar.
The couple announced the scholarship initiative during a visit to the university on Friday,July 12,2024 and later confirmed it in an official statement on Monday, July 15. The scholarships, provided through the Mercyisblessed Foundation,will cover full tuition fees and additional support for indigent but academically bright students.

Expressing her motivation for the initiative,Mercy Chinwo said,“Port Harcourt is home to me any day.The memories are fresh of a city where I dared to dream and hope for a purposeful life.I thank the Lord for His work in me and through me so far.The scholarship is to inspire students that their dreams and ambitions are valid and not to give up because there is a God who has ‘Excess Love’,” referencing her popular song.
