JAMB Registers Over 1.2 Million Candidates in Three Weeks
JAMB has registered 1,290,715 candidates for the 2025 UTME in just 19 days, with the registration window open until March 8.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has registered a total of 1,290,715 candidates for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) within 19 days. This was disclosed in JAMB's weekly bulletin published on Monday.
According to the breakdown provided by the board, 201,867 candidates were registered in the first week, 560,025 in the second week, and 528,823 in the third week. The UTME registration commenced on Monday, 3 February, and is scheduled to close on Saturday, 8 March 2025.
JAMB also revealed that it has disbursed a total of N903.5 million to Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres as part of its operational expenses. The payment was distributed in phases, with N141 million allocated in the first week, N392 million in the second week, and N370 million in the third week.
UTME Mock Trial for Underage Candidates
In a new initiative, JAMB introduced a UTME Mock Trial for underage students who are not yet eligible to register for the main UTME. This is aimed at preparing them ahead of their actual UTME registration when they attain the minimum age requirement of 16 years. The move aligns with the Ministry of Education's directive that pegged the minimum admission age for tertiary institutions at 16 years.
Suspension of Law Admissions in Eight Universities
Meanwhile, JAMB has announced that it will not be conducting admissions for the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme in eight Nigerian universities for the 2025/2026 academic session. This follows the suspension of law programmes in these institutions by the Council of Legal Education (CLE), the regulatory body overseeing legal education in Nigeria.
The affected institutions include:
-
Kwara State University, Malete, Ilorin, Kwara State
-
Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State
-
Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State
-
Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State
-
Taraba State University, Jalingo, Taraba State
-
Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, Cross River State
-
Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State
-
Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State
This development means that candidates seeking admission into these institutions for legal studies will need to explore other options.
