MOAU Retirees Seek Transition to Monthly Pension Payments During Solidarity Visit to New VC

The Forum of retirees of Reverend Father Moses Orshio Adasu University on Tuesday, 3rd March, 2026 paid a courtesy visit on the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Timothy Terseer Alabar, to congratulate him on his appointment as the institution’s new helmsman. The delegation was led by its Chairman, Mr. Stephen Ahua, who described the visit as both celebratory and an opportunity to present issues affecting retired staff of the university.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Dr. John Idikwu expressed appreciation to the University Management for sustaining the quarterly payment arrangement to retirees. However, he appealed for a transition to monthly payments, noting that such a structure would align with what operates in Benue State ministries, parastatals and agencies. According to him, monthly payments would significantly ease the financial strain faced by many retirees who rely solely on their entitlements.

Dr. Idikwu also decried the non-payment of gratuities to staff of the university who have retired since 2008 to date. He described the situation as deeply troubling and called for urgent government intervention.

In their separate remarks, the Bursar, Dr. Amos Egwurube Otse ; the University Librarian, Prof. Innocent Isa Ekoja; the Provost, College of Health Sciences, Prof. Andrea Ornguze and Prof. Paul Angahar commended the retirees for their patience and continued goodwill toward the institution. They assured the forum that their concerns are understood and would be properly communicated.
