NABTEB Releases June/July 2024 NBC/NTC Results

NABTEB has released the results for the June/July 2024 National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) exams. Out of the 67,751 registered candidates, 65.34% secured five credits, including English and Mathematics, while 92.42% obtained five credits with or without those subjects.

The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has announced the release of the June/July 2024 National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) examination results. Dr. Nnasia Ndarake Asanga, the Acting Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, made this known during a press briefing at the board’s corporate office in Benin.

Out of the 67,751 candidates who registered for the examination across 1,708 centres nationwide, a total of 44,000 candidates—representing 65.34%—achieved five credits or more, including in English Language and Mathematics. Additionally, 62,235 candidates, accounting for 92.42% of those who sat for the examinations, obtained five credits or more with or without English and Mathematics.

The 2024 results show a slight dip compared to the 2023 NBC/NTC performance. In 2023, 73.19% of candidates secured five credits including English Language and Mathematics, and 92.43% achieved five credits overall with or without English and Mathematics.

Dr. Asanga also highlighted the persistent issue of examination malpractice, with 349 candidates—0.52% of the total candidates—found to have engaged in malpractice during the 2024 examination. This is a slight increase from the 2023 figure, where 0.45% of candidates were involved in malpractice.

In addressing the impact of malpractice, Dr. Asanga stressed that it undermines educational integrity and deprives students of essential skills like critical thinking and problem-solving. He reaffirmed NABTEB's commitment to combating malpractice through innovative measures aimed at promoting academic integrity and enhancing authentic learning experiences.

NABTEB, which has the mandate to conduct examinations and skill-based assessments, provides certifications that qualify individuals for entry into the workforce or access to tertiary education. Graduates from Business, Technical, and Vocational Colleges, as well as those trained in informal sectors such as apprenticeship programs, can earn qualifications that certify them as Artisans, Craftsmen, or Certified Master Craftsmen.

Dr. Asanga also emphasized NABTEB's dedication to quality assurance, noting that test items are developed and moderated by seasoned academics and professionals following international best practices.
