Nasarawa State Tertiary Institutions Commences Indefinite Strike

Academic and non-academic staff of higher education institutions in Nasarawa State, under the Joint Unions of Nasarawa State Tertiary Institutions (JUNSTI), have announced plans to embark on an indefinite strike starting Monday, February 10.

The strike is in response to the state government's failure to implement salary adjustments and promotions.

 

The affected institutions include:

- Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic, Lafia

- College of Agriculture, Science & Technology, Lafia

- College of Education, Akwanga

This development is not unprecedented, as tertiary institutions in Nasarawa State have previously embarked on strikes over similar issues. The state government has been accused of being insensitive to the plight of workers and failing to address outstanding promotions and welfare issues.

 

The strike is expected to disrupt academic activities in the affected institutions, and students are advised to await further instructions from the management. The Joint Unions of Nasarawa State Tertiary Institutions (JUNSTI) have directed all workers to remain at home until further notice.
