Nasarawa State University Introduces Innovative Approach to Student Assessment in Entrepreneurship Department

The Department of Entrepreneurship, Faculty of Administration, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, has launched a pioneering approach to student assessment, replacing traditional written continuous assessment with practical exhibition activities focused on production, branding, and sales.
The initiative, unveiled on February 24, 2025, at the Department's Lecture Theater, emphasizes the importance of acquiring practical skills in marketing and sales, in addition to product creation. According to Professor Abdullahi Zubairu, Dean of the Faculty of Administration, this approach aims to empower students to drive economic impact by mastering the entire production and sales process.
Professor Abdulsalam Jibril, representing the Acting Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship, highlighted the unique attributes of entrepreneurship students, who seek to practice knowledge rather than merely acquire it. This hands-on approach is expected to alleviate pressure on young graduates to secure traditional white-collar jobs.
During the presentation, students showcased a diverse range of projects, including Pam sandals, confectionery, picture frames, and interior decoration. The projects were reviewed by departmental lecturers and Professor Hussein Tukur Hassan, representing the Dean of the Faculty of Administration.
This innovative initiative reflects the Department of Entrepreneurship's commitment to providing practical, real-world skills that will empower students to contribute meaningfully to economic development and societal growth.
